Urban Design Quality Review Framework
The Urban Design Quality Review Framework enables the Authority to systematically review completed development projects in Designated Areas and to evaluate the effectiveness of the provisions of the National Capital Plan (the Plan) in delivering high quality design outcomes through the development assessment process.
The Quality Review Framework is aimed at helping the Authority identify both the positive and negative aspects of development and also the factors that have contributed to the delivery of those outcomes. The Review Framework is a tool for the continuous improvement of the Authority's development approval process and monitoring the various planning, design and development policies of the Plan.
In selecting the projects to be reviewed each year, the following criteria are used:
- The projects to be assessed should be significant enough to make an impact on the urban design quality of the area in which they are located; and
- They should represent a good spectrum of urban development projects including building, landscape and infrastructure; or
- They are particularly sensitive or complex projects.
A panel of assessors is selected for a year or for each assessment cycle (every six months).
