Kings Avenue Bridges
New bridges will carry Kings Avenue over Parkes Way at the Russell roundabout thus eliminating one of the worst bottlenecks in the capital. There will be a new four way intersection to replace the roundabout allowing traffic to move smoothly, via ramps, onto and from Kings Avenue and Parkes Way.
These works will reduce travel times between Parliament House, the city and the airport and re-establish the significant vista along the approach route from Russell to Parliament House.
These improvements will directly benefit Canberra motorists, improve access to and from Russell and enable appropriate perimeter security to be achieved for Defence and other Australian Government security facilities throughout the Russell precinct.
