Canberra Tree Week, 21 until 27 July 2014, is a celebration of all things trees in the Nation's Capital. The National Capital Authority's Urban Tree Manager, Duncan Maclennan, will be speaking at the Tree Symposium on 25 July 2014 about tree management on National Land. To attend the Symposium at the National Arboretum, register by email at treeprotection@act.gov.au. Power Boat Permit Renewal

The National Capital Authority (NCA) has recently conducted a review of the power boat permit form and application process on Lake Burley Griffin (LBG). This change will allow the NCA to capture more relevant and useful information and streamline the process for all stakeholders. The NCA also hopes to more accurately identify boats that are authorised to be on the Lake.

King George V Memorial

The NCA is commencing conservation treatments to the King George V Memorial on 18 February 2014. The three week program includes stonework cleaning, conservation and mortar trials. The bronze elements will also be cleaned and waxed to maintain their condition. The King George V Memorial is included on the Commonwealth Heritage List. These works will ensure that the heritage values of the memorial are conserved.
