Changes to car park between National Library of Australia and Treasury Print Write e-mail

The NCA has converted the car park immediately south of the National Library of Australia to three-hour (3hr) time limited parking. Dedicating this car park to short stay is intended to increase the number of parks available for visitors. 155 car parks have been converted from long-stay to short-stay.

This change is intended to ease visitor parking pressures for both Questacon and the National Library of Australia. The NCA has asked for parking inspectors to conduct more frequent inspections of the area to minimise use of the park for long stays.

Safe road crossing is available via the traffic lights at the intersection of Parkes Place West and King Edward Terrace. To improve conditions for visitors, including the elderly and young children, the duration of the 'WALK' symbol for east-west crossings will be increased by 50% between 9.30am and 4pm every day.

To improve conditions for public transport users, the NCA is also seeking Parliamentary approval for the installation of new seats and shelters at every bus stop within the Parliamentary Zone.
