Venues on National Land
The National Capital Authority has a major role in the co-ordination of events on National Land. Effective co-ordination is important to ensure that such events, particularly in the national triangle, are sympathetic to the national significance of the area. The Authority advises on venues, access to services such as water and power, car parking and traffic management, and safety and security matters.
The heart of the National Capital provides unique venues for cultural and ceremonial occasions of local, national and international interest, commemoration of community and national anniversaries, community celebrations, displays and exhibitions, theatre, gatherings of people with common interests, parties, wedding ceremonies, and a myriad of other events.
The Authority encourages the use of National Land by private individuals.
Popular locations for events include Commonwealth Park and the Rond Terraces, Aspen Island, Kings Park and the Old Parliament House Gardens and various other locations throughout the Parliamentary Zone and lake foreshores.
To ensure that the planning and eventual outcome of your event is successful, there are a number of procedures that you may be required to address. Please refer to the Planning an Event section of this web site for information on how to plan an event on National Land.
