8. Competitive Tendering and Contracting

The Authority is committed to achieving the best value for money in its procurement practices. To this end, it has developed guidelines and procedures for selecting contractors and consultants and for determining the most desirable procurement arrangement for a range of projects based on the size, complexity and special needs of a project.

The Authority has established a Tender Board to consider high value procurements, which operates within the procurement policy framework established under the Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines. The procurement procedures for tendering further require that comprehensive evaluation criteria, based on the special requirements of a project be developed before tendering. These criteria address capability, experience and price to ensure the Authority is able to strike the right balance in selection.
