Consultation

Community consultation ensures the National Capital Authority makes informed decisions about the planning and development of Canberra as Australia's national capital. The NCA encourages members of the community to submit comments on NCA projects, proposals and draft amendments to the National Capital Plan (the Plan).

The NCA is currently seeking community feedback on the following:

Draft Consultation Protocol

As part of the commitment to consultation, the NCA has prepared a draft Consultation Protocol (the protocol). This seeks to formalise, clarify and guide the community and stakeholders to ensure consistency in the application of consultation within the legislative requirements, as outlined in the Act and the Plan.

The protocol sets out the minimum requirements for consultation which must be carried out:

  1. when the Plan is being made or amended;
  2. when a Development Control Plan (DCP) is being made;
  3. on a development application; and
  4. when the NCA informs community and stakeholders on an annual basis.
